intermedial concert displays
Feb 17th h12.00 | Aula Master D3D
Meeting with Marille Hahne, director of the Film Dept. of the
Zürcher Hochschule der Künste and Dr. Steffen Schmidt.
They are going to present a project we have been asked to collaborate:
"The research is motivated by a music, dance and other medias perspective. The aim is to develop new formats for the performance of music, which is originally related to other medias like film, puppet theatre and dance. The project focuses on the intermedial relation of the arts instead of isolating them. The compositions by Zimmermann and Saariaho are at the same time concert music and “functional music”, but almost presented in the context of concert music. To create a new format, which gives the idea and aesthetic of a work in progress, the music should here be better received with multimedial connection; neither “absolute music” in the traditional sense of a 19th century aesthetic, nor as functional music, but as an entanglement between autonomous arts. As a kind of musicological and art historical tool, this new format reflects the work in progress of a musical composition by relating the process to its earlier stages of multimedia connections. The format creates levels of historical reconstruction and an artistic approach to the composition at the same time".
