Museum as a platform
* Intro
In a world where your regular 6 years old is used to digital tv, computers, dvd, mobile phones, gaming consoles, finding something exciting for this generation to experience in a museum is harder than ever. This is why a lot of institutions are directing their attention to Interaction Design with the hope to be able to provide a more compelling exerience to their audience through interactivity. Additionally the experience doesn't limit itself to the actual visit but it extends from the preparation to the aftermath and deals with how people can capitalise from what they have learned during their visit.
In this scenario the web becomes strongly intertwined with the experiences in real world.
We think that the modern institution needs to have a consistent strategy on how to guide people from the web into its physical space and then guide them on their journey afterwards.
* Interaction Design and Physical Interaction Design
* Sensors, Actuators and Behaviours
* Intro to Arduino as an IO Extension and basic project
* Interactive vs Reactive
* Connectedness and museums
* Open sound control and Processing
* Final project
The final project will be done in groups of 2 students.
Each group will have to produce a working prototype of an installation for a Science Museum.
All the prototypes will have to be able to talk to each other on a network exhibiting some group behaviour.
Student performance will be evaluated based on attendance, participation and the final prototype.
