From Wikipedia: “A system integrator is a person or company that specializes in bringing together component subsystems into a whole and ensuring that those subsystems function together, a practice known as System Integration. System integrators may work in many fields but the term is generally used in the information technology (IT) field, the defense industry, or in media.” The aim of the course is to expose the system integrator's analytical point of view on the design and the construction of digital environments. The course is based on the study of interactive installations, performances and other projects I was involved in in the last ten years. Every project will be dissected and analyzed from a technical point of view, deepening the knowledge of the involved technologies and tricks. The analysis work will lead to the introduction of state of the art technologies and the training in their use. Two applications I developed, Mocolo (computer vision) and Polipo (video player), will be fully explained and left to the students to implement interdisciplinary projects.
